A Blue Ribbon Apron

This is a drive-by blog post because Cathy and Susan and I are off to Helena this morning for a Montana Berry Growers Conference event, but I thought you might all want to see the results of the fair entry:

The tag attached to the apron had comments written on the back:

It says:

  1. wonderful job

  2. beautiful seams (they were not serged but I did finish them by folding under the edge and stitching)

  3. perfect binding

  4. sewed wonderfully with all seams very neat and finished so well

  5. great colors

Sewing is not that much different from knitting in that the finishing can make it or break it. You would not expect the author of a knitting book on finishing to do a lousy job finishing her seams, would you?

I will up my game for next year. The grand champion ribbon went to that darling little girls Halloween dress on the rack behind me in the first picture. I have something to shoot for.
